Remembering the life of your loved one

Join Our Virtual Light up a Life Service

View the service below from 5pm on Sunday 13 December

Hosted by Pam Rhodes, who has been a familiar face on Songs of Praise for over twenty years, our non-denominational virtual service will take place at 5pm on Sunday 13 December.

The service includes many of the familiar parts of a Light up a Life service including a reading, a solo singer, a poem, a moment for reflection along with the opportunity to light a candle and watch the lights being switched on our Christmas tree.

Make a dedication on our online remembrance page

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision not to hold our usual Light up a Life services in the community this year.

However, we realise that for many it is important to have somewhere special to write down thoughts and dedications in memory of a loved one.

We have therefore come together in partnership with Much Loved, to create a dedication page where you can leave a message and upload a photo of a loved one. Please visit and make your dedication. If you would like to make a donation, there is an opportunity to do this at the same time. Thank you.

The changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic

During the coronavirus pandemic, we have all been through enormous change and some of us are experiencing loss of different types, including the profound loss experienced when someone close to us dies.

For many not being able to be with someone when they died or being able to come together with friends and family to celebrate their life as you would do under normal circumstances, compounds the loss. We know that many memorial services have been postponed until next year so that a larger number of friends and family will be able to gather together. We also know that there are people in our community who are still missing their regular social connections with friends and relatives.

We hope, in some small way, that by taking part in our virtual Light up a Life service this year or using our special dedication page, it will help bring us all together to support each other during these difficult and unusual times.
