Occupational Therapy aims to promote your health and wellbeing through everyday activities. By offering practical advice and support our occupational therapist can help you to remain active and independent. The therapist can help you to manage your physical, psychological and social well-being through a combination of simple exercises and specialist equipment.

This can include help with:

  • Assessment and referrals for wheelchairs
  • Home visits to consider equipment and adaptations –liaison with HSC where appropriate
  • Advice and ongoing support for you and your carer/family on maximising your independence in any of your daily activities
  • Advice on coping with your illness, such as conserving your energy and managing fatigue

Who can come?

To use this service, you need to be registered with a GP surgery within St Albans, Harpenden or Dacorum and have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. All patients will be assessed to see if they might be helped by Occupational Therapy.

How do I get referred?

If you are already known to Rennie Grove, a member of staff can refer you.

If you are new to Rennie Grove, you can request a referral to 'Grove House Day Services' from any health care professional involved in your care, including your GP.  Referral guidance for health care professionals can be found on our website here.

Alternatively, you can self-refer by phoning us on 01727 731013, emailing information.support@renniegrove.org, or calling in at Grove House during one of our Drop-in Sessions, which run Tuesday-Friday 9am-4pm, when a nurse can advise you and assess you for this service.  When self-referring, it is helpful if you can provide us with your GP name and address and your preferred method of contact.

Transport can be arranged or you may be seen at home if that is considered more appropriate.

What does it cost?
