We are currently providing bereavement support to local people who have been bereaved in the last two years.
What is involved in the Bereavement Support programme?
Our Bereavement Support is an 8 week programme which aims to reduce the sense of loneliness and isolation often experienced in grief by enabling you to connect with others in a similar situation. By creating a confidential and safe space, we will help you to have conversations about your grief, to share your stories, thoughts and feelings and find ways of coping. Among the topics for discussion will be:
- “Am I normal?” What is “normal”? We will talk about the wide range of responses to grief.
- What helps? We will look at a variety of different coping mechanisms and ways to help build your resilience including mindfulness, visualisations for relaxation, and keeping a gratitude diary.
- Next steps. We will help you set yourself realistic, achievable goals and find out what other sources of support are available.
How will the sessions run?
This support group will be facilitated by staff and trained volunteers from the Family Support Team at Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
Who is the course for?
This course is open to anyone living in the local community who is over the age of 18 and who has been bereaved in the last two years. Places on the course are limited in order to ensure the group maintains an intimate and supportive feel.
When and where will the next course be?
Our next Bereavement Support Programme will begin Thursday 3 March, 2022. We will be gathering in person at our Grove House centre in St. Albans, with a virtual fall-back plan if COVID restrictions need to be reinstated. Please express your interest by Friday 18 February.
How do I request a place?
Find out more and register your interest by emailing Gareth Bartlett as soon as possible and before Friday 18 February on firstname.lastname@example.org, or fill in the enquiry form below.
