In response to the current pandemic, we are providing a new approach to bereavement support to local people who have been bereaved in the last two years.
What is involved in the Online Bereavement Support programme?
Our Online Bereavement Support is an 8 week programme which aims to reduce the sense of loneliness and isolation often experienced in grief by enabling you to connect with others in a similar situation. By creating a confidential and safe online space, we will help you to have conversations about your grief, to share your stories, thoughts and feelings and find ways of coping. Among the topics for discussion will be:
- “Am I normal?” What is “normal”? We will talk about the wide range of responses to grief.
- What helps? We will look at a variety of different coping mechanisms and ways to help build your resilience including mindfulness, visualisations for relaxation, and keeping a gratitude diary.
- Next steps. We will help you set yourself realistic, achievable goals and find out what other sources of support are available.
How will the sessions run?
This support group will run online via Zoom. Sessions will be facilitated by staff and trained volunteers from the Family Support Team at Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
Who is the course for?
This course is open to anyone living in the local community who is over the age of 18 and who has been bereaved in the last two years. Places on the course are limited in order to ensure the group maintains an intimate and supportive feel.
