About our Physiotherapy services

Using targeted exercises and specialist skills and equipment, physiotherapy can help you stay as active and independent as possible.

Our physiotherapist can provide practical advice and support to help you manage your physical wellbeing. First, you’ll have an individual assessment. Our physiotherapist will then draw up a treatment plan based on your needs. After that, you’ll have appointments at our Grove House Day Services centre or, if you live in our Hertfordshire catchment area, we can sometimes visit in your own home.

While we welcome our Buckinghamshire patients for this service, we appreciate many may find it too far to travel. In this case, we can recommend physiotherapy services closer to home (and still provide support through our community-based services, such at Family Support).

  • meet with a specialist physiotherapist to have your needs assessed
  • get a personal treatment plan to help you achieve your goals, stay as active, and live as independently as possible
  • access one-to-one physio appointments at Grove House (with transport if needed) or, in some circumstances, in your own home
  • learn exercises you can do yourself to maintain mobility
  • get any specialist equipment you need to make life easier

This service is intended for anyone in Herts (or Bucks) with a life-changing or life-limiting illness.  Patients new to Rennie Grove need to complete an initial assessment with our day services nurse before accessing our day services. See ‘How do I access this service?’ below for more information.

People living in Bucks are welcome to use this service also, but may find the distance too far to travel.  If so, we can recommend similar day services nearer to the home, and still support in other ways through our community-based services, such as Family Support.

Like all Rennie Grove services, our physiotherapy support is completely free of charge. It’s not means tested and there’s no cost to patients or their families. We can deliver the services thanks to the generosity of the local community. In short, donations, charity shop income and fundraising events cover 91% of our running costs.

Those already registered as a patient with our Grove House Day Services can simply speak to a nurse or phone 01442 890444 to discuss if physiotherapy would be beneficial.

Those not already registered with our Grove House Day Services can phone  01442 890444 to arrange a discussion about how you might benefit from physiotherapy.

To access physiotherapy support at Grove House, patients must first register as a Grove House Day Services patient.  Although patients can self-refer, it is more expedient if their GP or consultant makes the referral.

At Rennie Grove, our five service teams work collaboratively to help patients and their families live the best quality life they can.  You can learn more about the role each service plays to support adults facing life-changing illness, and their families, here.
