Healing the scars of cancer

This month we transformed our Grove House Education Suite to host a Restore Oncology Scar Therapy training session for therapists who either work or volunteer at a hospice. The course provides a blend of hands-on skills and theory to support oncology clients with scar tissue, fibrosis or adhesions and other common complications linked to cancer surgery.

Five therapists attended from across Grove House, Peace Hospice and the Cancer Care Centre in Norwich. The therapists were able to train authentically, thanks to volunteers with genuine scar concerns who agreed to take part as clients.

We received extremely positive feedback from all involved and are proud to be championing the use of this therapy in the palliative and hospice care setting.

'Emma Holly is the premier scar therapy instructor in the country!  The course was excellently organised and beautifully presented. I loved treating 'real people.'

'The most beneficial part of the therapy was having someone else work on the areas that I find hard to touch and knowing that it is making a difference to my scar.'

'All of it was wonderful and the most beneficial part was the freedom of movement.'
