“I was told I had three months to live. It was a brutal conversation. But it helped beyond belief to talk things through with the Rennie Grove nurses. We had so many questions, and they answered them all. " - Julie

Julie's Story

Every day, our nurses support local families facing life-limiting illness through a holistic approach to care that reaches both patient and family. But our nurses can only keep caring because of people like you. Without your continued support – we can’t reach all the families who need us.

Families like Julie’s, who face the devastating news of a terminal diagnosis

After two years of discomfort, Julie was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Just a few months later, she was told it was terminal.

Julie’s miracle

When further tests suggested surgery might still be an option, Julie went back into hospital. The UK was in lockdown and Julie’s daughter, Hannah, thought she might never see her mum again. We were able to support Hannah too.

Julie’s surgery was a success. She got back home in time for granddaughter Ella’s first birthday. Our Rennie Grove nurses and team were able to help her with physio, equipment, and the side effects of chemo.

Looking to the future

Julie tackled our Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge last autumn. She cried when she finished because she couldn’t believe she’d done it. As she gets stronger, she wants to do more for Rennie Grove, so other families can get the same support hers did.
