Conference to consider complexities in palliative care

We’ll be discussing Complexities in Palliative Care at our annual conference in October.

Chief Executive Stewart Marks said: “Specialist palliative care should be available for all patients with complex needs, but the nature of ‘complexity’ is not well defined. The scope of palliative care has broadened in recent years to include supportive care from the point of diagnosis of any life-limiting illness to end of life. Simultaneously, there is a growing population of patients with chronic, long-term, multi-morbid conditions who may require specialist palliative care. It will also be interesting to hear the thoughts of our speakers on ways to overcome the challenges faced by patients who have a range of health conditions and receive care from a number of health and social care providers.”

Keynote speaker Iain MacBeath, Director of Adult Care Services, Hertfordshire County Council and Joint STP Lead for Hertfordshire & West Essex said: “At a time when resources are constrained, people’s expectations are rightly increasing and people are living longer with more complex health conditions, it is the right time for all health and care organisations to be finding closer and deeper ways to work together to meet those challenges.”

The Conference is taking place on Wednesday 16 October in the prestigious surroundings of Shendish Manor Hotel on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead. For more information and to register please visit www.renniegrovepeace.org/conference
