30 Years of Care – a poem

This year marked an important milestone for Rennie Grove Hospice Care: 30 years since the two founding charities that formed the charity came into existence.  Fiona Wordley, Clinical Lead for Patient & Family Services at Rennie Grove, has written a poem dedicated to three decades of hospice care in the local community…

30 years of Rennie Grove

For 30 years our nurses with their skills have all been there

For those whose lives are limited by illness, needing care.

What makes a hospice caring? How do you measure care?

It’s really something precious – it’s sometimes something rare.

For care can have wide meanings – to each it’s not the same -

To some it may just mean advice, or help to ease the pain.

To others it’s just knowing, that someone’s always there –

To listen with an open mind and help them all prepare

For what now lies before them and helping them get through,

By making sure we give the care that’s always ‘based round you’.

We want to keep on caring – with our care there is no cost -

But we have to keep on raising funds or all our care is lost!

So please help to keep us caring for another 30 years,

And help us bring a caring smile to comfort all those fears.
