Queen’s Nurse title for Debbie

Recognition for a Rennie Grove Hospice at Home nurse

Queen’s Nurse title for Debbie

A Rennie Grove hospice at home nurse has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse for her ongoing work.

Debbie Bennell, who has been with us for over 12 years, works as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Ridgeway Hospice at Home team covering mid Bucks, and was made a QN in recognition of her commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.

The title is presented by The Queen’s Nursing Institute and is open to registered nurses with more than five years’ experience working in the community.

The QNI, a community nursing charity, based its decision on the glowing reviews Debbie had received both from our managers and our patients. Nurses who hold a QN title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity.

“I am very proud to have been awarded the Queen’s Nurse title,’ said Debbie. ‘We are a close team here at Rennie Grove and I feel this reflects on the professionalism of everyone involved.”

Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the QNI said: “On behalf of the QNI I would like to congratulate Debbie and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country.

“The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Debbie and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”

The Queen’s Nursing Institute is a registered charity founded in 1887 and believes in the best possible nursing care for people at home, working with nurses and decision-makers to ensure that good quality nursing is available to everyone, when they need it.

Our hospice at home nursing teams care for adults and children in Bucks and west Herts with a life-limiting illness as well as providing support for their families so they can remain at home together, making every moment matter.
