We invite you to ‘Light up a Life’ in memory of a loved one on Sunday 28 November at 4pm at two special services in Princes Risborough and St Albans. You can also sponsor a light in memory of a loved one or write an online dedication to celebrate their life.
Director of Fundraising Tracey Hancock explains: “Light up a Life services are a wonderful and uplifting way to come together with your friends and family to remember someone special. We’re pleased to welcome Rennie Grove supporters and the wider community to the non-denominational service, kindly organised and hosted by the local Rotary Club, at Duke Street Gardens in Princes Risborough.”
We will host a similar service at Grove House in St Albans on the same afternoon. Among the readings, music, poems, a moment for reflection and the Christmas tree lights switch-on, Jane Russell – wife of former Rennie Grove patient Steve – will speak about her experience of losing a loved one.
Jane said: “For me, taking time to reflect on happy memories is so important. Light up a Life gives people an opportunity to do that in a caring, supportive, understanding atmosphere, alongside other people who have been through something similar. It will be lovely to come together to celebrate the lives of the people we miss and love so much.”
The St Albans service will be recorded and available to watch on our Light up a Life page from the following Sunday (5 December) until the end of the year.
Tracey adds: “We know some people prefer to watch the service by themselves, in the comfort and privacy of their own home. For others, it might be the perfect opportunity to arrange a special viewing with family and friends, at a time that suits everyone, to celebrate a loved one’s life together.
“Whenever and wherever you choose to watch it, we’ve put together a pack to help you really feel part of the service. When you sponsor a light, you can order your pack - containing an order of service, a candle, a Light up a Life card with a silver star for your special message.”
Email firstname.lastname@example.org to order your Light up a Life pack. You can sponsor a light without attending a service, and there’s also the option to make an online dedication to your loved one. The details you upload – their name, a favourite photo, your personal message – can be seen and shared on the special dedication page and will scroll along the bottom of the screen in the recorded version of the service.
