The ladies captain for Aldwickbury Park Golf Club in Harpenden has chosen Rennie Grove Hospice Care as the Ladies Section Charity of the Year.
The ladies at Aldwickbury Park will be holding a number of events, sales and auctions to raise money for us, to help provide hospice at home care for local people.
Ladies captain Kate Bull said: “I feel that hospices are such a worthwhile cause.
“I like the fact that Rennie Grove offers services to support the families of those who are facing life-limiting illnesses.”
In addition to our hospice at home service caring for adults and children with life-limiting illnesses in their home, we also offer family support services such as bereavement support for those dealing with grief.
Kate Bull said: “My husband had cancer treatment earlier this year and is, thankfully, fully recovered, but I know how hard it is to be the partner of someone going through this and how comforting it is to know that there is support out there if you need it.”
“In the Ladies Section we organise various plant sales, cake sales, jewellery and craft sales, raffles and any other ideas people come up with.
“We have a Ladies Section charity day, at which we play a special golf competition with various fun additions.
“I am really proud of the generosity of the Aldwickbury Park ladies and feel sure that I will be able to rely on them again this year.”
The fundraising efforts by golf clubs in the region make a huge difference to Rennie Grove.
Gemma Ralph, our Senior Community Fundraiser, said: “Supporting our charity is a fun way to work together with your club to fundraise and help care for local people.
“Golf clubs and other sports clubs have told us their support of Rennie Grove has been recognised in a positive way among their community, and their members really enjoy getting involved too.
“We love to see the brilliant fundraisers they come up with. It really does make a big difference.”
