If you enjoy taking photographs, then our competition could be right up your street.
We're inviting you to submit pictures of local scenes for the honour of seeing them on display in our newly-refurbished Grove House building in St Albans.
Each room has been named after a well-known local area and entries that best capture the essence of that area in the view of the judges will have pride of place on the walls, to be enjoyed by patients and families.
It could be a photo of a well-known local landmark, a street scene or in fact anything that stirs your imagination – but please no identifiable faces as such pictures cannot be included.
The room names are: Redbourn, Sopwell, Smallford, Clarence (Clarence Park), Fleetville, Harpenden, Verulam, Heartwood, Colney (London Colney or Colney Heath), Jersey (Jersey Farm), Cottonmill, Holywell and Sandridge.
Home to our specialist care and support services for anyone diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, Grove House has recently undergone an exciting redevelopment project to turn it into a warm, welcoming and vibrant hub for local people.
It has enabled the charity to triple the space available so it can provide a wider range of services – including those for children - to the local community.
‘We are very proud of the bright and modern refurbishment,’ said Rennie Grove Chief Executive Stewart Marks. ‘This photography competition allows local people to play a part in celebrating its completion and bring the local area alive within the building, as well as spreading the word about the important community work that takes place there.’
To make reproduction of the winning photographs easier, entrants should email their photo to firstname.lastname@example.org using attached jpeg images only. Please include your full name, contact number, preferred email address, location of each photograph entered and room it relates to. Finally, you must give permission to use your name associated with your image if it wins.
The competition is open now and will close for entries on Friday August 21, with judging taking place during the following week.
Entrants – especially those under the age of 18 – should check out the full terms and conditions here.
