A letter from our Chair of Trustees

Dear supporter,

As Chair of Trustees at Rennie Grove Hospice Care I wanted to thank you for your ongoing support. Without you, Rennie Grove would not be the wonderful organisation it is and I am particularly appreciative of this as we face the current challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. These are incredibly difficult times for all of us, filled with uncertainty and a feeling of vulnerability, with no obvious end in sight.

The work Rennie Grove does is of great importance at any time, but especially now in that, by looking after so many families at home with the skills our nurses have, we will prevent many patients ending their lives in hospital, at a time when the NHS will need every bed it has.

The Board of Trustees is working very hard with our Senior Management Team to find the very best ways forward. We have to protect our staff and volunteers, ensure clinical work continues and do all we can to preserve the charity.

We are suffering as an organisation as we have had to close shops, stop fundraising events and are facing a big drop in income. You have responded extremely well to our ‘We Need You Now More Than Ever’ fundraising campaign and our latest Rennie Grove Matters newsletter has also resulted in very valuable donations and we are very grateful for this vital support.

You will have heard that, after much Hospice UK and charitable sector pressure, the Government will be offering some financial support for hospices across the country.  This is great news and we will wait to understand how this will be of benefit to Rennie Grove.  I hope it will be a big part of the income that we need but it is very unlikely it will be all, and we will still need to raise significant additional funds ourselves, both for now and to help us recover once this pandemic settles.

The Trustees are totally committed to supporting the charity through these really difficult times and we have every confidence that, with your support, we will be able to carry on providing the care that is so badly needed in our local community right through and beyond this crisis.

I very much hope, even in these strange isolating times, that you will continue to support and stay connected with Rennie Grove and I wanted to let you know how grateful we are for all you are doing.

Please do look after yourselves and follow all the guidelines to stay well.

Best wishes
