Sue Varvel, Rennie Grove’s former Director of Nursing and Clinical Services, retired in early May following a career as a palliative care nurse working in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire spanning more than 30 years.
Sue has sent the following message of thanks: “It has now been a few weeks since I retired from Rennie Grove Hospice Care after a 31 year career with this amazing charity.
“I wanted to be able to thank everyone individually for the wonderful send off and the incredibly kind wishes I received. Sadly it’s not possible to do that so I do hope you don’t mind me sending a message this way.
“I had a truly memorable farewell and felt humbled by your kindness in your cards, messages and gifts. I will treasure them all.
“I had an amazing career with Iain Rennie and Rennie Grove and met and worked with so many lovely people. I will miss you but know the organisation will go from strength to strength and continue to provide care to patients and families in need.
“I am very proud that I have been able to leave a legacy – the Sue Varvel bursary – which has been set up to help pay for nurse training and that, at the time of writing, contains around £2,300.
“Thank you all for your friendship and support over so many years. I wish you all great success into the future.”
